BEGINNING SAILING LESSONS 2010

Our Instructor is Daryl Clark, a seasoned sailor, began his sailing experience on cruise excursions to the local SW Ohio and Indiana lakes with his dad and brother, with Acton Lake their home port of call. Sailing has been one of his passions since he started sailing in high school many years ago. During his college years, he started racing with the Miami University Sailing Club. While at MU, he also began teaching sailing. Daryl, a member of the US Sailing Association, enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for sailing with students and fellow sailors.

THREE HOURS ON THE WATER

This program is designed for the first time sailor and is a safe introduction to sailing.

The classroom session and the sailing session will be scheduled on two different days. The schedule for this year will include classes in May, June, July , August and September. The classroom session will be on a Wednesday evening and the on the water class will be on Saturday or Sunday. The classroom part will be held at Strictly Sail in Blue Ash and the on the water class will be held on Brookville Lake in Indiana.  The classroom session will be all one evening lasting approximately 3 hours.  The on the water session will also last approximately 3 hours.  The classroom session will cover sailing theory, safety, terminology and rigging.  The on the water session will be hands on with the instructor on board. 

The cost is $99.00 per person plus tax for a total of $ 105.44 per person. We will send you a registration confirmation and a paid invoice upon receipt of your reservation with payment.

SIX HOURS OF INSTRUCTION

TWO HOURS CLASSROOM & FOUR HOURS ON THE WATER “TILLER TIME”

This program is designed for the sailors who have taken our basic sailing class or have been sailing for some time and always wanted to take their sailing up to the next notch.

What things will be covered?

Sailing theory, rig tuning, hull & sails interrelation, reading the weather, introduction to navigation – chart reading, plotting position & dead reckoning, the gennaker, and beginners to racing.

The classroom session and the sailing session will be scheduled on two different days. The schedule for this year will include classes in May, June, July, with other classes to be added if there is a demand. The classroom session will be on a Thursday evening and the on-the-water class will be on Saturday. The classroom part will be held at Strictly Sail in Blue Ash and the on-the-water class will be held on Brookville Lake in Indiana.  The classroom session will be all one evening lasting approximately 2 hours.  The on-the-water session will last approximately 4 hours, and will be hands-on with the instructor on board. 

The cost is $125.00 per person plus tax. We will send you a registration confirmation and invoice upon receipt of your reservation.
